Doctor Faustus

Christopher Marlowe

Doctor Faustus is a highly ambitious scholar who feels that traditional knowledge—philosophy, medicine, law, and theology—is no longer enough for him.
He makes a pact with the devil, trading his soul for 24 years of unlimited knowledge and magical powers.

A demon named Mephistopheles appears and helps him make the deal. Faustus enjoys a life of power, pleasure, and fame, but eventually regrets his decision. He tries to repent, but it’s too late, and the story ends in tragedy.
